New Clients

I am currently accepting new clients.

I take an intentional, focused approach to counseling and limit my caseload so each person receives dedicated, attentive care. My priority is understanding your unique needs and providing the support necessary for meaningful, lasting progress. Because of this commitment, there may be times when I do not have immediate availability. If I’m unable to accept a new case, I will do my best to help you find another counselor who may be a good fit.

No-Charge Initial Consultation

Finding the right counselor matters. To help you determine whether we are a good fit, I offer a free 15-minute consultation. You are welcome to call me directly at (757) 347-0450, or you may request a scheduled time—including telehealth options—through my secure provider portal at Headway. This brief consult gives you space to ask questions, share what you’re looking for, and get a sense of how I work before committing to an intake appointment.

Counseling Approach

In therapy, we focus on the emotional and psychological aspects of these areas to understand what contributes to stress or instability and to guide a treatment approach that supports regulation, clarity, and healthier functioning. Over the years, I have streamlined my counseling methods into a system I call the SixSpeed Integrative Counseling Model. The SixSpeed model is a structured, trauma-informed framework that helps us understand how different areas of your life affect your emotional wellbeing, stress response, and overall functioning. It blends evidence-based counseling approaches and explores six key domains—physical wellbeing, stability and responsibilities, emotional health, relationships, identity and meaning, and connection—each considered through their clinical relevance to your emotional health, mental fitness, and counseling treatment goals. As part of this model, you will use a personal workbook that helps us organize the flow of your counseling process and maintain a collaborative approach in your work with me, becoming a resource you can return to as needed long after you have completed your counseling goals and are thriving through the challenges of future life successes. Because this model is focused on exploring how different areas of life influence mental health, there may be times when you have service needs in those other life areas arise but fall outside the scope of what a Licensed Professional Counselor can provide. When this happens, you may choose to work with other qualified professionals within those areas in addition to your counseling with me. These services would be arranged independently at your discretion.

What to Expect When Working With Me

  • A Grounded, Structured Start

Your first sessions focus on understanding what you’re experiencing, what feels overwhelming or out of balance, and what you want to change. Together, we begin shaping a plan that supports stability, clarity, and meaningful progress.

  • A Calm, Supportive Environment

Together, we collaboratively create a therapy plan that focuses on what is important to you that is clinically grounded, supportive, and free of judgment or pressure.

  • Clinical Skills and Insight

Our work includes developing clinically supported skills and awareness that help you manage emotions, to use them as a tool instead of as burden, and understand the patterns affecting your wellbeing.

  • A Pace Approach That Match Your Needs

Some clients benefit from short-term, solution-focused support, while others need a slower, steadier pace to address chronic stress, burnout, trauma, or long-standing patterns. Together, we determine the pace and depth of therapy based on your clinical needs and the goals you want to work toward.

  • Forward Movement That Lasts

Counseling isn’t just about reducing what hurts—it’s about building what helps. As we understand your patterns and strengthen your internal foundation, therapy becomes a process of creating resilience and wellbeing that supports the life you’re working toward, long after therapy ends.

Telehealth Availability

I offer secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth sessions for adults anywhere in Virginia. Telehealth allows flexible access to counseling without the need for travel or time away from home or work. If telehealth is a good fit for your needs, you can connect through a private, easy-to-use video platform linked through your client portal.

Scheduling & Records

I provide counseling services as an independent contractor under Headway. From my website, you’ll be directed to my provider portal there for scheduling, billing, records, and all client-portal access needs.

Insurance Information

I am in-network with several commercial insurance plans. Because insurance credentialing can change, the most accurate way to confirm your coverage is by entering your insurance information through my secure provider portal on Headway. This tool helps verify whether your plan can be accepted; however, it is not always 100% accurate, and direct confirmation may still be needed.

I am currently unable to accept Medicare or Medicaid plans. I am currently in the process of being credentialed for some of these plans.

Commercial plans I am currently credentialed with include:

  • Aetna

  • Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield of Virginia (and other states if it covers services held within Virginia)

  • Anthem EAP

  • Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts (virtual network only)

  • Cigna

  • Oscar (Optum)

  • Oxford (Optum)

  • Quest Behavioral Health

  • Sentara

  • United Healthcare (Optum)

If you are unsure about your specific plan, you may check through my portal or contact me directly with any questions.
If your plan cannot be accepted—or if you prefer not to use insurance—self-pay options are be available.

Ready to Begin?

When you’re ready to take the next step, you can schedule a consultation or intake through my secure Headway provider portal or by calling me directly. I’m here to support you as you begin working toward clarity, stability, and meaningful change.
